The ecological functionality of a fish-passing facility depends on how easy it is to find and fish can pass through. Such systems are often hard to find because the fish passe's attracting flow is not strong enough compared with the channel for generating force or the weir overflow.
The KLAWA fish attracting pump solves this problem by using the hydraulic principle of the pump’s water jet. A small powerful jet of water (taken from head water) propels large quantities of water from the tailwater that can be used to help the fish find the upward ramp. By this attraction flows can be generated which are mainly based on tailwater water masses, i.e. water which already has passed the turbine. Our solution is thus both ecological and very economical. The fish attracting pump can also fully harness economic benefits when new fish ladders are installed. Get in touch with us to find out more. The fish attracting pump is protected by patent.
